Equipment

  • 1 Zip Top Bag
  • 1 Tongs, Cutting Board, Sharp Knife

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs tri tip steaks
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil such as avocado oil
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Marinade the Steaks

  • Combine all of the marinade ingredients and mix together until well combined. Add the steaks and marinade to a zip top bag or airtight container. Keep the steak refrigerated and marinate for at least 2 hours, but 3-4 hours is ideal.

Grilling the Steaks

  • Preheat your grill to 400-425˚degrees F.
  • Remove your steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature while the grill preheats.
  • Cook the steaks on the grill grates for 3-4 minutes per side. The steak should cook for 12 minutes total or until it reaches an internal temperature of 125-130˚F for a medium-rare steak.
  • When your steaks have reached the desired doneness, remove them to a cutting board and let them rest before slicing. Your best bet is resting for at least 5 minutes.
