Smoked or Grilled Hamburgers on a Traeger Grill

Easy hamburgers and cheeseburgers made on your Traeger Pellet Grill low and slow or high and fast.

Ingredients

  • 8 ⅓ pound hamburger patties
  • ¼ cup Traeger Rub
  • 8 hamburger buns

Burger Toppings

  • 8 slices cheese
  • 2 tomatoes thinly sliced
  • ½ red onion thinly sliced
  • ½ head lettuce
  • ½ cup pickles

Instructions

Grilled Burgers at 375F

  • Set your Traeger Grill temperature to 375˚F and preheat with the lid closed for 15 minutes.
  • Season your burger patties well on both sides.
  • Lay the seasoned burgers on the grill grates and let them cook for 8-9 minutes with the lid closed.
  • After 8 minutes, flip the burgers. Rotate the burgers around if you are cooking several burgers at once and be mindful of your hot spots.
  • Cook for an additional 8-9 minutes or until they've reached at internal temperature of 150-155˚F
  • If adding cheese, add 1-2 slices now and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the Traeger and serve immediately.

Smoked Burgers at 250F

  • Set your Traeger temperature to 250˚F and preheat with the lid closed for 15 minutes.
  • Season your burger patties well on both sides.
  • Lay the seasoned burgers on the grill grates and let them go for 25 minutes.
  • After 25 minutes, flip the burgers.
  • Cook for an additional 25 minutes or until they've reached at internal temperature of 145-155˚F
  • If adding cheese, add 1-2 slices now and cook for 5 minutes. You can also warm up the hamburger buns on the top shelf at this point.
  • Remove from the Traeger and serve immediately.

Notes

The smoked burger may hit a stall around the 140F mark. Trust the temperature and wait for it to reach 145-150F before adding the cheese and removing from the grill.
For well done burgers, cook to an internal temperature of 160F
