The Funnest Cookies and Cream Milkshake
On a hot day, the whole family is on a milkshake mission. They can be just so expensive to order out at restaurants. When I started my mission for a good milkshake at home, I needed a thick Oreo milkshake recipe - STAT.
The Basic Milkshake Ingredients

Just a few simple ingredients and you will be on your way.
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Chocolate Syrup
- Oreo Cookies
- Cold Milk
These are the most common ingredients used, especially at restaurants. I think we can do better though.
How to Make it Extra Special

Time to put the CHOCOLATE in this shake and take it to the next level. If you don't already these items on hand, lets get these in your next grocery order or make a plan to grab them from the local grocery store asap!
I'm making this a double chocolate milkshake. Stick with me for lots of ideas to make your family ask for more.
- Vanilla ice cream
- whole milk
- chocolate sauce
- whipped cream
- mini chocolate chocolate chips
After you have made your delicious Oreo milkshakes, make the presentation top-notch like they do at a restaurant. Use chocolate sauce or hot fudge to rim the glass and add cookie crumbs. Fill your prepared milkshake glass, top with heavenly whipped cream, more cookie crumbs, and a cherry on top.

Flavors To Add To Our Oreo Shake
Now, I love the nostalgic flavors of a classic Oreo milkshake... but, we can add a few special items and make this special each time we make it.
- Want more vanilla flavor- add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to add a little bit of extra pop
- Chocolate Sauce- add 2 teaspoons of chocolate sauce right into the milkshake to bump up the chocolate
- Chocolate Ice Cream- for chocolate lovers, myself included, this is a flavor game changer and my personal favorite
Cookies and Cream Shake Toppings

One of the best things about a great milkshake from an ice cream shop or restaurant are the special toppings. Don't hold back. Do it right!
Whipped cream
Chunks of cookies
Maraschino Cherry
How Thick Do You Want It?
It's pretty easy to make a milkshake exactly as thick as you want it- just adjust the amount of milk you add. My best tip to avoid a runny milkshake: start with less milk. You can add more if you need to, but it's hard to fix once its too thin.
For a thick milkshake, you may need to blend for 20-30 seconds and then use a spatula to scrape down the sides and then blend some more.
Helpful Supplies and Serving

All you really need is a basic blender and glasses. I do think special serving glasses and extra wide straws make the experience better though.
- Tall Glasses
- Thick Straws
- Ninja Blender
- My favorite Ice Cream Scoop
