A Frosty Treat For A Hot Day
My kids ask for slushies regularly. And I'll admit, on a hot summer day, they hit the spot. However, I started making them myself because the store-bought slurpies are expensive and loaded with ingredients like artificial colors that we avoid. We are making a fun treat with real fruit and a great consistency in our own kitchen.
Basic Fruit Slushie Ingredients

This is one of those easy recipes where less is actually more. Just your favorite fruit with a little liquid and some ice.
- 1 cups Frozen Fruit
- 3 cup Ice Cubes
- 3 cups Fruit Juice or Sparkling Water
Step-By-Step Directions

You'll have your own homemade slushie in less than 5 minutes and that includes washing the blender after your slushie is complete.
- Combine all of the slushie ingredients in a high-speed blender.
- For best results, start on a low speed to mix the ingredients. Scrape down the sides on the blender.
- Now, blend on a higher speed until the slushie is completely smooth.
- Serve immediately.
Fun Fruit Combinations
Classic Strawberry Slushie: 2 cups frozen strawberries, 1 cup of strawberry lemonade, with 2 cups of ice.
Mango slush with 2 cups of frozen mango chunks, 1 cup of pineapple juice, and 2 cups of ice.
Pina Colada slushie with frozen pineapple, coconut water, and ice.
Recipe Modifications
The base recipe only need the three ingredients from above. However, if you want more flavor or more sweetness, I have some options for you.
For sweeter slushies, add 1 teaspoon of honey or agave nectar per cup of fruit.
A perfect way to jazz up the fruit flavor is with lime juice. A fresh squeeze of lime juice with strawberry, mango, or pineapple brightens up the slushies.
