Charcuterie Board Basics
Traditional charcuterie boards combine cured meats with a variety of cheeses and specialty food items. The best boards have the perfect balance of savory and sweet ingredients, different shapes and textures of cheeses and crackers, with some fresh items as well.
Everything you need for an adorable Easter charcuterie board can be found at your local grocery stores. You just need a game plan for how to lay it out.
Must Have Easter Items

In this bright and shiny spring season, I focus on milder flavors that are fresh. A mild sweet and savory combination is the perfect way to get into the Easter spirit. With that in mind, these are my must have items:
- 2-3 Soft cheeses: herb cheese like borsin or alouette bring great flavor. Brie or goat cheese are also a good idea.
- 1-2 Hard cheeses: aged cheddar, Swiss, or flavored cheeses are great to add contrast to the soft cheeses
- 3-4 Charcuterie Meats: prosciutto, mild salami, turkey, coppa
- 2 fruits like fresh berries, grapes, apple or pear slices
- 2 fresh vegetables like bell pepper, carrots, cucumber, or asparagus are all in season
- 2-3 dips and spreads- ranch or garden herb for the dip and fig jam or mustard for the spreads
- Easter candy- see more on that below
- optional small bites like deviled eggs are perfect here
- 2-3 olives, pickles, mixed nuts. etc
- crackers, breadsticks, toasted bruscetta
- edible flowers are a total game changer and a creative way to add spring time to your board
Fresh Fruits and Crudite

A charcuterie board comes with complex savory flavors and in order to balance that intensity, it's a good idea to add fresh fruit and vegetables. For an Easter board, carrots with the tops left on are the cutest. Mini bell pepper with a partial stem also give the feel of being pulled straight from the garden.
We are also adding green grapes and a variety of berries..
No matter what fresh foods you include, you will be successful if you think about how you will arrange them on the board and what makes them the most appealing.

Easter Candy
Sweet treats and candies always get me the Easter mood. My favorite Easter candy are Cadberry chocolate eggs, but you pick whatever you love!
- Jelly Beans
- Robin's Eggs
- Chocolate Bunnies
- Chocolate Eggs (cadberry are my favorite)
- marshmallow peeps
- sugar cookies
- chocolate peanut butter eggs
Any sweet treat that come in beautiful pastel colors are the perfect addition to this year's East Charcuterie board.
Appetizers For Your Board

Is it even Easter without deviled eggs? Hard-boiled eggs are a delicious way to upgrade your board.
Some more finger food ideas that can be a great addition to your Easter themed charcuterie boards:
- Mini Quiche
- Small tea sandiwches
- Prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe
- Pesto puff pastry
Make an Herbed Cheese Bunny

An easter themed charcuterie board needs a great focal point that will stand out. You can follow these directions for an herb cheese bunny or pipe out the shape of a cross, carrot, Easter egg or bunny face like I have shown.
- Combine 5 ounces of room temperature cream cheese with 5 ounces of your favorite herbed cheese like Boursin. Fold the two cheeses together until they are well combined and transfer the cheese mixture to a large piping bag.
- Print out a bunny coloring sheet to use for an outline and place underneath some parchment paper.
- Cut a large tip off the end of the piping bag and pipe out the outline of the bunny. Continue to fill in the bunny completely until all of the herbed cheese is on the board.
- Use a butter knife to gently smooth out the edges.
- Keep refrigerated until 1 hour before you are ready to serve.
Board and Serving Dish Options
You will want a larger wood board for this project in order to fit all these great foods.
Helpful serving items include:
- small bowls
- serving tongs
- cheese knives
- appetizer forks
- toothpicks
Make Your Easter Board Beautiful

Now that you've chosen delicious foods with vibrant colors and figured out how to lay it, we need to finish strong. These items will fill in any empty space and are a great way to add a pop of freshness.
- Edible Flowers
- Fresh Herbs
- Colored Easter Eggs
How to Make a Beautiful Easter Charcuterie board

Choose your large wooden board or charcuterie platter. Lay out items like small bowls, jars of spreads or dips, anything that won't change its shape as you lay it out.
The first thing you'll want to lay out are the main focal points- larger items like salami roses, cheese balls, that sort of thing and have them spread apart from each other.
Next, start to fill in the rest of the board with your other appetizers, meats, and cheeses arranged so that compliment each other. I like to group items that fit the same profile together, for example prosciutto, brie, and fig spread all pair well together,

Now, you can place your dip bowls, jars, specialty food like olives, pickles, etc.
Lastly, fill in gaps with small loose items like dried fruit, nuts, wrapped candies and garnish with flowers, herbs, Easter themed decorative items.
Make the Ahead
You can assemble this ONE day ahead of time and keep covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator. Do not add items like crackers, dried fruit, marshmallow peeps, or candies until the day off because even if they're covered, moisture may wreck them.
