Tasty steak kabobs are a great way to up your grilling game. Cooking on our Traeger gets us the perfect results for bright vegetables and tender juicy steak. By cutting our steak into pieces and grilling at a high temperature, you are guaranteed for a perfectly cooked, quick dinner.
Best Steak for Grilling Kabobs

Since we are cutting our steak into pieces and cooking it quickly, the right kind of beef is important. We need something reasonably priced and without a lot of fat or connective tissue. Here are the best choices:
- Sirloin cap
- top sirloin
- new York steaks
- ribeye steak
You can also use beef tenderloin or cut filet mignon into cubes for your beef skewers, however, that will be more expensive. Delicious, but expensive.
Steak Marinade Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix up these simple ingredients and add your sirloin cubes. You can marinade in a large bowl or transfer to a resealable plastic bag. Keep the marinating meat in the refrigerator until you are ready to assemble the skewers.
- ½ cup Soy Sauce
- ¼ cup Worcestershire Sauce
- ¼ cup Neutral Flavored Vegetable Oil (avocado oil or olive oil for example)
- 2 tablespoon Vinegar- apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic or garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
This Basic Meat Marinade can be used on all sorts of meats. We love it on chicken, beef, and pork.

Skewer Options
You have choices when it comes to which kabob sticks you use.
Metal Skewers are great when you are cooking a weeknight dinner for your family.
Bamboo Skewers: wooden skewers are ideal when you are cooking for a crowd since they are disposable. For the best results, soak the wood skewers in water for 15 minutes before using.
How to Assemble and Grill Your Kabobs

Once you've picked out your meat stick, let's alternate the marinated steak with the vegetables.
- Start with a piece of meat by piercing it with your skewer and pulling it to the opposite end.
- Now add 1 or 2 vegetable slices.
- Add another piece of marinated steak and continue to alternate until your steak skewer is complete.
My favorite order goes like this: steak+onion+bell pepper+steak+mushroom repeat.
Cooking Your Steak Kabobs

First, set your Traeger temperature to HIGH or 425F-450F.
After the grill has preheated with the lid closed for 15 minutes, place skewers directly on the grill grate and cook with the lid closed for 6-7 minutes.
After 6-7 minutes, flip the skewers to get the perfect char on all sides. Cook the skewers until the steak reaches an internal temperature of 135˚F.
Remove the cooked steak skewers and allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Best Wood Pellets for Steak Skewers
For a quick cooking recipe, the optimal wood is the cheapest wood. The blend of premium wood pellets from Kirkland Signature work just fine for beef skewers. Since we aren't infusing much smoke flavor through the cooking process, don't stress about pellets.
Recipe Modifications
If you want to give other veggies a try, here are more options: zucchini, yellow squash, baby portobello mushrooms, pineapple, any color of bell pepper.
Saving and Reheating Leftovers
To keep your tender steak moist and flavorful, reheat leftovers in a small pan with a little butter or vegetable oil.
