    Great Flavors of Whisky Fudge

Chocolate is wonderful all on its own. Smooth fudge with a creamy texture brings a smile to just about anybody. If you want to set yourself apart with a special creamy treat, adding just a tiny bit of whiskey takes your dessert to the next level.

My favorite time of year is from Thanksgiving to Christmas and New Year's. The food is special compared to the rest of the year. You can take your regular chocolate fudge recipe and turn it into the perfect homemade gift idea for your loved ones this year.

    Homemade Fudge Ingredients

You know why this is the best whiskey fudge recipe??? Because it only has 5 ingredients. This is my kind of recipe when I want to make something special, but I'm too tired to try hard.

    • 2 cups of Chocolate Chips - milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate, depending on your preference
    • 14-ounce Sweetened Condensed Milk
    • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
    • 1 teaspoon Unsalted Butter
    • Β½-1 tablespoon Jack Daniel's Whiskey

    The Secret to Smooth Fudge

This is an easy homemade fudge recipe and you can make it perfectly every time if you do just one thing correctly. Heat the ingredients low and slow. Set your burner to a 3 or 4, medium-low heat, not too hot setting.

If you gradually melt the chocolate chips and stir continuously, you will have the silkiest fudge ever.

    Helpful Supplies

One of the great things about homemade fudge is that you actually don't need any special equipment.

Medium Sauce Pan: all of the work happens in this sauce pan

Baking Dish: choose the right size for the shape of the fudge you are going for. You can use an 8x8 baking dish or a 6x9 rectangular dish for taller pieces of fudge.

Parchment Paper or Wax Paper: you will line the baking dish either one so that you can remove the fudge and cut it after it has set up.

    Step-By-Step Directions

    1. Before you heat anything up, line your baking dish with parchment or wax paper and set it aside.
    2. Heat a medium-sauce pan over medium-low heat. Add the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, butter, and vanilla.
    3. Using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, stir the fudge mixture continuously until it is completely smooth.
    4. Shut off the heat and add the whiskey. Stir that in really well.
    5. Pour the fudge mixture into your prepared pan, cover with plastic wrap or a lid, and let it set for 3 hours at room temperature. You can refrigerate for a couple of hours to speed up the setting process. Β

    How to Serve

After the fudge has set up in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours, you can cut it into individual servings. I like one inch cubes, but you can go larger you want. Keep refrigerated and covered with a lid or plastic wrap until you want to serve the cut fudge squares.

Using mini cupcake liners is great way to display them.

    Saving Whiskey Fudge

After your boozy fudge has set up completely and you cut it into squares, transfer it to an airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks. But, I seriously doubt it will last that long.

When I serve it from the fridge, I like to take it out about an hour before eating so it comes back to room temperature. It just makes for a better texture.

    Gifting Ideas

Had I known a long time ago how easy fudge is to make, I would have been this stuff a long time ago. Everyone loves homemade treats during the holiday season. This is the perfect gift idea for the whiskey lovers in your life.

You just need the right packaging. Here are some popular ways to share this delicious fudge:

    • Bakery Boxes
    • Cookie Tins
    • Twine Wrapped Parchment Paper
    • Gift Box with Mini Cupcake Liners

    Whiskey Fudge Recipe Modifications

You have some choices when it comes to what whiskey you use. If you have another favorite liquor like bourbon already open, give it a try. Irish whiskey like Bailey's is also good. If you want more or less whiskey flavor, you can modify the amount of alcohol. My only warning is that too much whiskey can cause the fudge to not firm up completely.

For the chocolate, you may want to try something less sweet than milk chocolate. Semi-sweet chocolate chips bring down the overall sweetness if you prefer.

If you want a little more from your whiskey fudge, creamy peanut butter is the perfect addition.

Lastly, nuts are a classic fudge ingredients. Toss a couple tablespoons of chopped walnuts in for a twist on texture.

    Notes

*You can speed up the setting time by placing the fudge in the refrigerator to set up in less time. Refrigerating should set the fudge in about 2 hours and then be ready to cut.Β
