I'm so excited to show you how to cook a pizza on a Traeger Grill. This is easy, fast, delicious, AND you get exactly the kind of pizza you want. By using a frozen pizza crust, we can skip the time consuming pizza dough recipe. But we don't have to compromise on flavor or texture!

Why a Pellet Grill is Perfect for Pizza Night

Build your own pizza night is always a hit. Kids have a ton of fun making their pizza exactly how they want it. I figured out that making pizza on our Traeger pellet grill is so much easier than the oven because we can toss multiple pizzas in there at the same time and pull them out as they are ready. We don't even need a pizza oven. The crust goes directly on the grill grates and you can move the pizza around to fit more at a time.Β
You will end up with a crispy crust, great flavor, and hardly any clean up. Homemade pizza night has never been so fun.
βFrozen Pizza Suggestions for the Grill

When you are at the grocery store looking at the sea of frozen pizza options, start by looking for thin crust pizza. In order to get the crispiest crust possible, thin is better and it will cook quickly all of the way through so it doesn't burn. My next piece of advice is to just grab cheese pizzas so that you can make it exactly how you want it.Β
Easy Pizza Night Toppings

Let's grab a few thin-crust pizzas along with your favorite toppings and put together pizza the whole family will enjoy. If you like it, put it on! I'm listing some basics and then some suggested combinations.
- Traditional Meat toppings: pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon,Β
- Cheeses: mozzarella cheese is probably on the frozen shell but you can add more if desired. I also like to finish with some fresh parmesan cheese to pack a little more flavor.
- Veggies: sliced mushrooms, bell pepper, black olives, red onion, diced tomatoes
- Fresh Herbs: just because we are using a frozen crust doesn't mean we can't dress it up. Fresh basil, roasted garlic cloves or fresh minced garlic is a great way to finish the pizza after it has cooked.Β
My favorite pizza toppings include pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, cooked crispy bacon, caramelized onions, and thinly sliced bell pepper.Β
Fun Combinations to Level up Traeger Pizza

Meat Lovers: old world pepperoni, cooked Italian sausage, applewood smoked bacon, diced ham all piled on with extra cheese is my favorite. Serve this with a spicy pizza sauce for dipping or a cool ranch.
BBQ Chicken Pizza: add grilled chicken, red onion, cooked bacon and finish with a drizzle or swirl of BBQ sauce
Hawaiian: lots of sliced or diced ham with diced pineapple
Helpful Supplies You Will Need

By making our pizza directly on the grill grates, we don't need a pizza stone or even a pizza pan. Just get that perfect pizza on the grill grates and pull it directly onto your cutting board for serving.
These are the items you will need:
- large cutting board
- pizza wheel (aka pizza cutter)
- tongs - for removing pizza from the grill grates
- wood pellets: since we are cooking quickly at a high heat, go for a blend. We are not really infusing any smoky flavor into our pizza so whatever is in the hopper will be just fine.
Optional Tools that are cool but not required:
- Pizza Peel: if you have one, you can use it to take the pizza off of the grill grates
- Traeger Pizza Grill Kit: if you end up making pizza in your Traeger on a regular basis, this attachment may be worth your while. This accessory runs more like a wood-fired pizza oven and attaches directly to the fire pot of your wood pellet grill.
Should I Use a Pizza Stone When Making Pizza on My Traeger?
Using a pizza stone: this is entirely optional. If you have an older version of Traeger that does not have the digital temperature setting, you want to use a good pizza stone to protect the bottom of the pizza crust. A pizza stone is also especially helpful if you are using fresh homemade pizza dough. When I am cooking these frozen pizzas, I just lay the frozen crust directly on the grill grates. If you don't have a pizza stone, but want a barrier between the crust and grill grates, you can also use a cast iron skillet. You'll just want to let it preheat for a full 15 minutes before putting the pizza on.
How to Make Frozen Pizza on Your Pellet Grill

- Start by preheating your pellet grill to 450F or set it to high temperature if you do not have a digital setting on your pellet grill.
- While the pellet smoker preheats for 15 minutes, assemble your pizza toppings.
- Add the pizza toppings to your frozen pizza shell in an even layer. Avoid overcrowding or adding too many ingredients. You want the pizza to cook evenly.
- Once the pellet smoker has reached 450F or whatever it's high heat setting is, add the pizza and close the lid.
- Cook the pizza for the recommended minutes listed on the box from the packaged directions. Usually 12-15 minutes at high temperatures.
- After the crust has cooked through and the cheese is completely melted, remove the pizza to a large cutting board.
- Cut the pizza and serve. You should have a delicious homemade pizza ready to devour!
Pro Tip: if your Traeger has hot spots especially when running high heat, rotate the pizzas halfway through so that the crust does not burn.
Making "Build Your Own Pizza" Night Into a Meal

I don't think there anything better than a traditional pizza and salad meal. I love to combine our delicious pizza with a classic green salad and homemade ranch dressing. My son and I love to dip our crust in ranch dressing, so this is another reason to go this way.
Combine crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce for the ultimate crunchy base. Add shredded carrots, red cabbage, diced cucumber, and cherry tomatoes for the perfect meal.
Saving and Reheating Frozen Pizza

You can save leftover pizza in the refrigerator for up to for days in an airtight container. To reheat it, use the reheat option on your microwave, or for best results, pop it back on your pellet grill for 5-10 minutes to maintain that crispier crust.
