When to Serve this Fruit Salad
This is fun for summer and all of our favorite patriotic holidays. I started making this fruit salad to add something bright and fun to our Memorial Day weekend menu out on Lake Travis. It's easy to make ahead and travels well. Our family loved it so much, it was a no brainer to make for an easy 4th of July fruit salad too.

Fun Fruit Salad Ingredients
Fresh Berries are the first ingredient and make up the bulk of our salad.
- Favorite Fruit from the lists below
- Fruit Salad Dressing
- Garnish
Red Fruit options
We have so many choices when it comes to red fruits. Fresh strawberries are such a summer staple and the bright red color are just what we need. Watermelon is a great addition and can easily be cut into star shapes.
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
- Watermelon
- Pomegranate seeds
Blue Fruit
There aren't a ton of options for blue fruits, so fresh blueberries are the main attraction. If you can find good fresh blueberries, blackberries are an okay substitute.
White Fruit to Use
To add the white, I love white peaches. The color and flavor is a great balance to our berries. Other white fruit ideas include peeled apple slices, such as Pink Lady or Gala.
- Cut Apples
- Fresh Pears
- White Peaches
- Coconut
Fruit Salad Dressing

We need a little sweet and a little tang to balance out our fruit salad.
- orange juice
- lemon juice
- fresh mint
Juice substitutions: you can also use pineapple juice or lemon juice if you prefer.
